Marswatch 2009/2010

Mars observations for the 2009/2010 opposition. Drawings and images of observations during the period surrounding the 2009/2010 close approach of Mars.
This apparition, we will be monitoring Mars for the following:
1 Changes in shape and size of the polar cap(s)
2 White clouds and frosts
3 Changes in both shape and intensity of albedo features from previous apparitions
4 Orographic clouds over the large volcanoes.
5 Dust storm activity
Observations will include drawings and images in filtered and unfiltered light.

Observations:

Antoniadi seeing scale used for these observations:
I - Perfect seeing without a quiver.
II - Slight undulations, moments of calm lasting several seconds.
III - Moderate seeing with larger air tremors.
IV - Poor seeing; constant troublesome undulations.
V - Very bad seeing; even a rough sketch impossible.
Generally recorded as 'Seeing Antoniadi III'
